A STAR-studded Heat line-up slayed the Beasts in the final of the Willowfest ladies’ grade yesterday.
The Heat were too hot to handle as a devastating eight over spell of swing bowling from Melissa Keating, in which she claimed 6/8, saw the Beasts dismissed for 35 on a good batting deck.
Only Beasts opener Wendy Owen offered any resistance, making 18 as the only batter to reach double figures, before being bowled by Keating.
In reply, opening pair Annabel Martin and Teagan Parker – who was coming off an innings of 93 against the Beasts the previous day – only needed nine overs to reach the total, with the Heat cruising to a 10-wicket triumph.
Parker finished unbeaten on 24, while at the other end Martin, who hit the winning runs, was 13 not out.
Keating, a medium pacer, was thrilled with her match-winning performance.
“I don’t think I’ve bowled that well ever, in any game,’’ she said.
“I wasn’t expecting to do that at all. You always go out there hoping you do, but to take six … it just happened.
“I’m absolutely stoked. This Willowfest comp has been really good and there’s a lot of new faces out there.
