The night, which gets under way at 6.30pm, will see two novelty races run and offer family-friendly entertainment including a jumping castle, free ice-creams, face painting and an appearance from Elliott Emu.
Mildura Harness Racing Club secretary Mark Kemp said the event was “always one of our bigger nights” and hoped it would attract new fans to the sport.
“It’s always a big crowd being holiday time,” he said.
“A lot of mums and dads bring the littlies along and they have a great night.”
The first four races on the card will be run before the novelty events get under way, with spectators recommended to make their way to the trackside by 8pm to secure the best viewing spots.
Pride will be on the line when the 30th annual Sulky Dash media challenge sets off.
Sunraysia Daily reporters Andrew Brookes and Christopher Testa will take on Mildura Midweek’s Giulia Prosperi-Porta and Carmel Zaccone, WIN News reporters Emily White and Allyson Fonseca, WIN camera crew Callum Pankhurst and Ben Gross, and Prime TV’s Megan Gray and Todd Griffiths.
The race will see contestants pull their teammates on a sulky over 100 metres with a change-over at the halfway point.
“I know Prime have won it the past two years,” Kemp said.
“It’s always an exciting race and lots of fun.”
Mildura Midweek captain Prosperi-Porta said she “couldn’t wait to compete”.
“Carmel and I have been training hard for this,” she said.
