This year a whopping $2969.20 was dropped in their wishing well as part of the Put Christmas in Your Street competition.

The donations are a way of voting and the money goes to the Christmas Miracle Appeal.

It is the largest amount of money the People’s Choice winners have raised in the four years they have taken part in the competition.

This year Put Christmas in Your Street has raised $5587 to go towards the purchase of goods for next year’s Christmas Miracle Hampers.

The Striks’ home in Morrisett Street is a magical Christmas wonderland which is added to every year. The couple are always keeping an eye out for special pieces.

This year’s additions include a motorised train, the North Pole Express, at the rear of the home, a windmill at the front, an inflatable declaration of ‘joy’ and a few smaller odds and ends.

Mrs Strik, who is referred to as Mrs Santa Claus by her work colleagues at CSU, said people who come back year after year love to try to find the new elements in the display.

Mr Strik said they were thrilled that their display had brought happiness to so many people.

He said people are still dropping by to have a look even though Christmas is done and dusted.

“The yard was packed every night,” he said.

“We really try to make Christmas memorable with a big nativity, a bubble machine, lasers and lots of lights.”

With a barn for the reindeer, endless Santa figures, toy soldiers, elves, snowmen, Santa’s house and Christmas dolls, the display took a month to set up and will take even longer to take down.

It isn’t only local people who come along to enjoy the display – this year the Striks have had people visit from Sydney, India and Korea.

The other houses that raised money through put Christmas In Your Street were 3 McPhillamy Avenue [$205.80], 22 Ridgeview Close [$348.95], 23 James Barnet Drive [$447.95], 11 Warrawee Close [$493.40] and 22 James Barnet Drive [$1121.75].
