Wheely nice gesture

ON Boxing Day I met a man sitting beside his camper utility in the industrial area of the Bay.

Apparently some no-goods had tried to steal his wheels. All they achieved was to remove the wheel nuts. Unaware of the problem he drove the ute far enough for the noise to worry him and by then he had serious damage to his back axle.

He asked me, not really expecting a meaningful response, where he might have welding repairs done – on Boxing Day?

Now I know a man with a welder, and I’m proud to call him a mate.

He was on his way home from work, having just done a night shift. Later in the day he sent me a text which simply said “job done”.

But I already knew that because the camper ute had moved on when I drove by.

Not happy about the low life that caused the problem, but the grey nomad who is back on the road must be very relieved, having met such a top bloke, in the Bay, on Boxing Day.

And my mate tells me he did it for nix.
