Writing’s on wall in Maitland for new year’s resolutions

But this time, as 2015 rolls around, the grand old dame that is Maitland is calling for you to publicly display your New Year’s resolutions.

In a first for the city’s New Year’s Eve river front celebrations, organisers have created a large installation for people to post their resolutions for 2015.

“Our team had a bit of a brainstorming session to see what we could do to interact with people and we came up with this,” Maitland City Council events co-ordinator Adam Franks said.

“And we plan to keep the installation in central Maitland for the whole month of January so that people can revisit their resolutions, or maybe get some ideas from other people for their own list.

For Mr Franks, flossing is top of his list, while events organiser Kate Henry wants to do away with chocolate and embrace fitness.

“I think, psychologically, if people write their resolutions down then they are more likely to stick to them,” Mr Franks said.

“It’s all well and good to say what you are going to do, but you need to something to make yourself accountable.

“I’ll be really interested to see what people will write on the instalment. This event attracts about 8000 people, so hopefully we’ll get a lot of people filling it up and I think it will look really cool.”
